CNH is growing!

On January 1, 2009, the former Toronto Homemaking Service (THS) joined the CNH Family of programs and services.  Now known as the In Home Services Division of Central Neighbourhood House, this program provides personal support and homemaking services to people living at home while dealing with physical and mental health challenges. We are delighted to welcome the 112 new staff to CNH, and look forward t working with them in the coming years.

New and exciting Programs!

The WISE program (Women In Self Empowerment) is designed for young women 13 to 17; piloted in 2009, the program is offered 2 nights  a week and provides participants an opportunity to talk with their peers about the issues of the day, make new friends, and build on  social, economic and healthy lifestyle skills.

Girls Nite Out is an opportunity for girls 11 and 12 years old to get together in a safe place to share activities, discuss current issues and build self esteem and leadership skills.  This is a new program in 2010.

The Boyz 2 men Program has been a part of CNH for many years now, and offers boys and young men a safe place to discuss issues and concerns, mentoring, and opportunities to build self esteem and the skills young men need to succeed in the world today.

B-Safe is a pilot project in 2010; an early intervention, crime prevention project designed to help children and youth from the Moss Park, St. Jamestown, and Regent Park communities who are struggling with behavioural issues, aggression and peer pressure. B-Safe provides a safe space for crime prevention education, self-expression and mentorship.  Some of the many benefits of this type of early intervention can include reduced rates of: substance abuse, teen pregnancy, teen suicide attempts, child abuse or neglect and levels of domestic violence while improving educational achievement.
