Creating community one neighbour at a time…

As our name suggests, CNH is founded on the principle that neighbours are an important community resource. We believe that a single mother teaching a craft to the children in our daycare and the banker volunteering at our tutoring program have equally valuable gifts to share and receive. Volunteering is one of the most gratifying and mutually beneficial experiences that our neighbours participate in. We are proud to be an organization that exemplifies the ‘old school’ notion of being a compassionate and involved neighbour.

Our volunteers…

Run errands for and clean the homes of seniors
Lead community games nights and special events
Help children and youth with their homework
Mentor, challenge and inspire our young adults
Support stroke survivors in our adult day program
Help keep our premises and surrounding neighbourhood clean
Receive community hours and coveted student placement spots
Advance their career goals, academic field of study or social interests
Develop new skills such as program planning, research and group facilitation
Expand their world by building relationships with incredible individuals from diverse experiences

We work with over 200 volunteers per year who contribute approximately 20,000 volunteer hours.
